DESCRIPTION

This free 60-90 minute program by three experienced gourd carvers from central coastal California will cover a variety of topics about a material that is unusual, but very interesting.  Gourds come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and can be turned into extraordinary objects of beauty and function.

The presenters will cover growing, harvesting, safety, cutting, design, pyrography, carving, finishing and hints.  

Big gourds are commonly sourced in California, but maybe those of us in Oregon can experiment with local sources.

We suggest you do a Google search on "gourd carving" and look at the resulting images to expand your vision about what is possible.
